Did anyone see those poor ponies on there today[I know non of you are sad enough to watch it]They were tied on metal poles and had to go round and round.I have heard of this before being done in Spain but I was disgusted to see these poor things going round or standing tied to these poles.Has anyone seen this in real life does it still go on?|t was like a merry go round with real ponies

Not *poor* ponies - very happy, well looked after ponies

Looks a bit like a horse walker!

I didnt see it today but was it the one about the riding school and the owner was worried about it being closed or something, I know Im sad!

Can't believe anyone thinks they are 'very happy' The ones today were out in the sun but the ones in the photo probably do it day in day out they look completely switched off. I wouldn't want my horse in a walker of any kind everyday for hours on end .
I don't know what the rest of you think

Sorry, not getting into this debate again - how you can say they look switched off from those pics is beyond me. Do I agree with it? Not particularly, but I know how many ponies I have seen doing this job, they are very strictly monitored in the area I am from and yes they are happy ponies who work less hours than your average riding school pony works.

It's a bit like seaside donkeys etc - when we were in Weston a couple of years ago there was a cob trotting up and down the beach pulling a cart in the hot sun all day long. It was heaving, so I don't think we can criticise the way other countries use animals to entertain children.

That sounds horrible

These ponies only work in the evenings, TBH I have never seen a pony carousel in daytime other than a couple of hours on a Sunday as most fairs are only open in the evening (other than a Sunday) and then they are under shade. I am VERY critical on their condition, always have been, and I have never had a prob. Now if you get me started on the horses I have seen that give carriage rides in the resorts...

Not criticising other countries I would be upset where ever I saw it.I used to work at an RDA centre and left because I felt sorry for the ponies ,they had a lot to put up with, some riders just banged up and down on their backs and some leant so far over you had to keep straightening the saddle. I admire riders with a disability but not all should be allowed to ride but we weren't allowed by the doctor in charge to turn anyone away,.The 'merry go round' on tv was in the sun and they just walked round lifeless and the circle looked about 15 meters diameter.I wasn.t impressed

I saw it too - no shade or anything. BUt I agree with Weezy, I have been to many british places and seen lame horses with overgrown hooves etc pulling carts for tourists. I just had to tell myself that they were better looked after than many horses and ponys in the world (although many of these aren't featured on tv programmes)
