Dial fit helmets?

I'm going to Oz next week, I don't want to be taking my nice HS1 in my luggage, and anyway it'll be too hot to use there, so was considering buying a hat once I get there. But many of the helmets available there seem to have the dial system at the back to adjust fit.

Does anyone have a hat like this and is it any good? Would you recommend it?

I really need a vented hat, I'm going to Sydney and you may have noticed the recent weather trend there is rather warm!

I have a Champion Ventair but I don't really want it to fade, it's still such a nice black instead of the faded reddy brown colour they go! Although I only bought it for £60 so maybe it wouldn't matter? I've not worn it that often, would it give enough ventilation?

I have a troxel, and love it. I don't find the ventair gives much ventalation tbh. I found buying a hat in oz a bit of a pain when I was there, as the ones they had in the shop werent overly nice, or as comfortable, although there are some better places in Sydney than where I was!!

Rather than buying a new helmet - could you get a mesh cover (to stop it fading) for your hat and take that instead? Or get a cheap jockey cap cover and cut air holes?

Also, If it's a holiday can you borrow one there ?

If not then the dial fit hats are okay as long as they good quality - avoid cheap imitations - Gatehouse and Just Toggs do good ones.

Yes there are several good tack shops around Sydney so finding something shouldn't be difficult. I have found a couple of helmets I like the look of, both being Dublin so a decent brand, although I didn't know Dublin did helmets!

I'd rather not borrow a helmet as you can't guarantee that they've not been dropped or something, I'd rather pay a bit more money so I have a safe head!

I've been looking at these two helmets the most. The first being a dial fit one, but the second isn't.

I'm so used to looking at British helmets and knowing the safety standards and brands that I'm a little lost looking at these!
