Hiya, I'm trying to work out if a diamond/lattice/trellis plait is dressage legal. im currently riding my new forest pony again whose back from loan, her mane is pretty long now but not anywhere near shoulder length yet. i dont really want to pull it and although she's a native i feel scruffy not plaiting. do you think its conventional enough to do this plait. we are going to look a little different anyway as although shes strong enough to carry me and is fairly chunky i am 5'6 and shes only 14hh lol. an arab plait is out of the question as i really cant do them! was thinking of plaiting her forelock and tail as normal.

any ideas would be great.

Hi, Not sure if it is legal or not but I have done a lattice plait on my Andalusian lots of times for BD as I find it so quick and easy to do. Never had any one question it before;just lots of compliments!

Its perfectly ok. I use it on my advanced/ GP stallion as he finds it more comfortable than the running plait.
If people can be unplaited [which i think is a bit off, i am sure there are those that will come up with their 'reasons' but in ~coughs~ 20something years in the sport i have found none] i am sure a bit of lattice will be fine!!!
