If short of time flick to about 40 secs for the jumping!

Does anyone know anything about him- please excuse my ignorance- i'm not hot on breeding!

The price seems very high at 1500€, but then the investment of 800,000€ needs to be recouped fairly quickly. As a stallion he is totally unranked in any way other than having been awarded "seigerhengst", which is indeed the best you can get from the Holsteiners. There is no question that he is a superb animal, and the combination of the top french stallion Diamont de Semilly and the motherline of Coriano and Corofino, seems to have worked very well. He provides a super genetic package.

However, should you be a test bed for unproven stallions? is that what the UK breeders should be doing? (these are not loaded questions, just designed to get breeders thinking). On price, I can name 20 top 100 stallions that are the same price or less. Should UK breeders be breeding with them? We had the conversation a couple of weeks ago about a british based three year old being advertised at £700 versus a four year old with incredible genetics and great results in the sport for a four year old, being priced at £260.

Ordinarily a young stallion is offered at a price which is attractive to breeders, in order to get foals on the ground. Is 1500€ an attractive price?

Again to qualify my questions, I do not seek to cause arguement just debate and thinking, which is what will drive british breeding forward. All stallions owners are entitled (providing it's truthful) to promote and price their stallions in the way they see fit. it is for the mare owner to decide whether they believe the hype or look for the facts.

PSI know they will get some breeders at that price (and will get interest/publicity for the stallion), but I think its far too high for an unproven colt. He is 3 and hasn't even done his 30 day test yet. There are other Seiger Hengst (Champion Stallion) available that have gone on and proven themselves in sport or as producers for less money that that. I wouldnt breed to him at that price, but then I wouldn't breed to the 3yo advertised for £700. It's just not competitive

Thanks for the really interesting replies. I hadn't realised he was three

I posted the video because when I saw it I went 'wow!' and I was intrigued to hear what people's opinions were and whether or not he was heard of or not (Yes my knowledge of breeding is that bad

- beginning to get my head round the prominent dressage stallions but that's my lot!

You've made some really thought provoking points and it's good to stimulate interesting discussion- thank you
