As title really, am giving Kaopectate as diarrhea started last night and vets closed, and I had kaopectate but the smecta was out of date. Does anyone know what is the difference between them. Thanks
I hope the diarrhea is better. I've never heard of smecta. If you give anything read the label carefully. I used to give Pepto Bismol for diarrhea but now it has aspirin in it. I use generic immodium with my dogs. What I have is a couple of months out of date but it still works.
I’d never heard of either of those and had to google them, they seem to be human drugs that are also used for dogs? But then I saw that the OP is in France which might explain the difference in medication used
I also always use ProKolin for diarrhoea in dogs, I find it great
Yes I am in France. Kaopectate is not just for dogs but can also be used for cats, lambs, piglets, foals and calves, only for animal use. Contains Kaolin, pectine parahydroxybenzoate de methyle. Must not taste good as real problem to get it down her throat (short nosed breed). It has worked well and she is better now.
