i noticed this morning that my 17yr old gelding has just started having diarrhea, i think its because of the spring grass, as he hasn't had his diet changed in ages and has had the same hay supplier for ages to. what can i do to stop it??

i can't do that i have no where to put him, he is due for worming though so i'll do that and i'll get some pink powder tonight was thinking about putting my mare back on it anyway.

Is he out 24/7? If so then you could electric fence some of the field and give hay.
If out during the day and in at night you could make sure he has a feed of chaff (hifi or hifi lite)and maybe unmollassed sugar beet before he goes out. This will fill him up and so he is less likely to stuff the grass when he first goes out. Also, if he finished his night hay at 3am for example, that is several hours without food going through followed by lots of rich grass. A recipe for loose poo! Make sure he has enough hay to last all night - aim to have a bit left over in the morning.
Definately worm too.

right he is out 24/7 with my mare he has fibergy and fast firbe twice a day a ad lib hay avalible at all times, he was better last night so maybe it wasn't the grass i will keep a close eye on him. thanks for all your advice

Pepto Bismol is very helpful and I swear by it. You can give it upto every three to four hours if required and it's quick to help. Not sure on the dosage for a horse I'm afraid.

NAF Pink Powder will also help to settle.

like you say he is due for a wormer so he just could have a little burden put him on the pink powder the diet he is on sound good all very high in fibre and maybe strip graze your fiels so he his not having so much of the spring grass!
