Just wondering has this happened to anyone else, took my mare to a local show yesterday its been about 15 months since she was boxed to a show and in the that time the only time she was boxed was to move to my old yard when she was sold to me and then when I moved to my current yard. Due to my confidence issues we have only done shows held at the yard and yesterday was our first "outing" together. She traveled really well and apart from a bit of calling when we arrived she soon settled. Was very good for my non-horsey mother when I went to register, walk the course etc. so no outward signs of stress at all until we went into the warm up when we had a run-out (1st time ever she has done this, normally all I have to do is point her at the jump!) and then we went in to do our round. She was very strong and I had no brakes
but thats another story. When we finished my mum said she had pooed herself and when I got down I saw her back-end was covered in liquid **** (sorry if TMI). Poor mare! I was going to try another round but I decided it was home and time for another bath!
Would you put this down to horsey nerves or just excitement? Any advice for the future as I would like to bring her out and about.
Another thing she was so happy to get back to the yard it was unreal, you would swear I had taken her down the mines or something
. Maybe she was fretting that I was moving her as that was the result of her last 2 trips in the box....
