I thought i'd motivated and ride before work today seen as I only lunged tobe yesterday.

The wind actually didn't seem that bad whilst I was tacking up, went into the outdoor school to put some trotting poles out and nearly got swept off my feet !! Now ginga ninja has quite an aversion to bad weather however I rode in the rain the other night and he didn't bat an eyelid (probably due to lack of energy at the minute)

Walked him round the school for a warm up on a loose rein, mane and tail blowing in every direction - however nothing bothered him. Popped him into trot to go over one of the poles and a MASSIVE gust of wind went right up his back end and woooooooooooooosh off we went!

After that I just walked him round and he was being a right drip so once he settled I just jumped off and admitted defeat to this god for saken british weather.

If a bit of wind is all it takes to give him some oomfh I might attatch a fan under his tail :D

Anyone else 'try' to ride today?

Yes I've just come in from a strangely masochistic but wierdly enjoyable schooling session on a bare hillside at 1100 feet in the Peak Park in the howling wind and hail :)

Rode my 3yr old in a 'rattly in the wind' indoor. The more I get to know him (had him from a yearling) the more I love him. When riding him he just seems to get 'in the zone' and focuses so much on me. Xx

He sounds like an absolute diamond.

Yes, I hacked out on my girl and she is as brave as they come. All mine go out in anything really.

Well i'm going to attempt to ride later... we shall see what happens!! May have to give up and loose school or something instead. She would have a day off, but she's in because of the weather so needs working otherwise she gets stiff. I'll just be brave and just cling on for dear life :D

Amazingly our just broken ponies have been brilliant this morning being ridden in this horrid wind and rain. The older nags who should be alright have been a little on their toes but soon settled to work better than usual!

Got out at 8am before the wind really hit. I got battered yesterday afternoon in sleet and horrid wind though, horse thought that was terribly exciting, and thought he would attempt some levades to enhance the jogging he was doing. They were not appreciated!

Yep, before it got at all windy it was almost eerie in fact but it was 5.30 am in the pitch black in the middle of a 4 acre field - I don't have an arena so am making the most of the better weather this winter before I have to lay my boy off once it gets too muddy to ride on my field

Had a horse viewing cancelled made sense but not doing my anxiety any good.

Reminds me of the horse I had a second viewing with on a freezing day with high winds and driving sleet. Groom pulled her out of her stable, hopped on and rode her in the out door menage. Asked if I'd like another ride on her, to which I replied , Nah, you're alright, I'll stay here with my coffee. Whats she like in traffic ?'
The very wet lad rode her briskly down a busy main road, round a roundabout in atrocious conditions and the little mare didn't bat an eyelid.
I bought her.

Theres not much keeps me off my horse, and im hoping to get into the arena later, but its seriously dodgy here just now, there are tiles being blown off the roofs, the gusts are fair rattling around the house, my horse is good in the wind and rain, but shes not impervious to missiles that are flying about, so she can stay where she is at the moment, in her cosy stable

Wasn't too bad when i set out, only to go round a bit of a bend to be faced with branches blowing along the road towards me. Luckily horse was able to avoid them and we proceeded into a gale to get back home which took about 30 minutes. Some of the branches looked as though they might be blown off, and I was very pleased to get away from the trees without one landing on my head.

I hacked my TB out this morning got a quarter of the way around before the rain started and half way before the strong winds started. He was an absolute star I was so pleased with him especially as i had to trust him to take me home towards the end as i couldn't see where we were going. We resembled drouned rats when we got home, I can't say I will be too happy about going out in that again the weather was worse than foul!

I kept my two in this morning as the fields are sopping wet and I didn't want the mudrash to kick off.

I tacked up my mare, got to the end of the drive, being practically blown off our feet, with her exercise sheet ballooning over her back like a parachute. Then the hailstones started and a wheelbarrow went flying, and my sensible, not spooky mare gave me a "What the hell are we doing!" look, and I saw sense and went back in!! I then chucked them out in the field for an hour while I mucked out.

The poor half-feathered ex-battery hens that have been here 10 days are standing there going "This free range lark isn't quite what I thought!" They are growing feathers so fast you can practically see them grow.

Stay safe everyone.
