Nothing too exciting for us…

The baby had a fab lesson on Monday. He was pretty chilled so more rideable and we started introducing counter canter.

Top pic is from his latest lesson. The bottom is from the first time I sat on him (Dec 21).

Other than a lesson with Cas tomorrow, I’ll mostly getting organised for our trip to Kelsall Hill for the senior home nations with team Scotland next weekend. Is anyone else going?

Not much for me, horse has whacked his leg so cold hosing and ice vibing and crossing my fingers that it is just a whack. Alas no excuses not to do all those household chores and lists of things that need doing.

Ds face has deflated suitably so we hacked out Friday and Saturday I do love how she marches out with her ears forward.

I schooled by myself this morning in walk and trot and did some poles, had a little spook and I didn't freak out 😅.

Now she'll get 5 days off as I'm away for work.

Just hacking for us.

I ended up giving B an Irish clip rather than a bib clip. He was very sweaty after a fast hack and I just don't think a bib clip would have helped much.

The downside (for me!) is a very fresh pony!! Hopefully he'll settle down soon!

My RC have restarted training clinics which I'm really looking forward to! Booked us in for a polework clinic already.

P.s congrats on the red frillies Bernster!

We had another weekend at home, hacking Friday, Hen is getting braver with the new route. He was very keen so we mostly walked.

Saturday we did some flat work and he felt great. It was a helpful reminder that sometimes variety is the most helpful in his work. It had been a week since we did proper flatwork and he felt so soft and willing.

Yesterday we jumped, we had a great session too. I have a fun exercise set up at the moment, it gives us lots of options and I am starting to put the jumps up a bit higher, 12 month after my fall that resulted in an absolute confidence loss. Very proud of myself for doing the work!

I also cycled 50km this week, the most I think I have ever done so I'm celebrating that achievement too. My legs are tired though!

Well done Bernster!!

I had a busy Friday - popped to Blenheim in the morning to support YO's daughter in the ROR dressage. They did a very sweet test despite only doing Novice for the last month. Then headed back to meet the vet, who was a crazy 2 hours early! He wanted to be even earlier but I'd barely left Blenheim when he called 😳. Chilli got the all clear in his reassessment, vet thinks he looks 'Great' 🥳. Indio had a neuro check after a couple of odd moments but also all clear so a happy vet visit for a change!

Other than that, schooling and hacking for Chilli. His schooling is improving except for one big mental block we're having in right canter transitions. Left is fine, right canter is decent once we're in it, downwards are improving. Just getting into right canter is causing issues. Hopefully we'll get there, it's always been his weaker canter and I need to remember that we've only been back cantering for 5 weeks...

@SpotsandBays brought her lovely bay horse to a charity ride with me and the baby cob. Bay horse was an absolute superstar considering he had a plunging idiot of a baby cob for the first 4 miles, especially as we had to put plunging idiot of a baby cob in front for the canters and he isn't as fast as he thinks he is!!

Second 4 miles he was exhausted and we actually had a nice final canter.

Maybe next time he'll go over the jumps instead of spooking at them :p

Ahh well done OP! Lovely rosettes too!

We did our first hunter trial.. she is 5, only hired a cross country course once so maybe a bit optimistic?! I entered the 70cm, it was soo wet and hilly but we went very steady.

Where we had to park meant people were galloping behind the trailer, she stood eating her hay on the box calm as anything for a hour 😊

The warm up was carnage.. she’s never been in one with more than 2 horses. 2 people fell off, one loose horse galloped towards my mare who handled it brilliantly. Pony club mums telling their kids to gallop up the edge of the warm up, almost ramming into us. 🙈

She jumped everything, even the spooky fences! But stopped at the water to look before going in so that gave us some penalties. We still came 7th out of 14th, really happy with her. 😊

What really made me smile was when I walked back to the trailer from getting some food, my partner was with her but she saw me and gave me the biggest whinny ever! 🩷

A useful show on Saturday, our first attempt at going, competing, and coming home again all in one day. Discovered this is fine and makes no difference to either Amber or me so that's good.
On Thursday Amebr was rather crabby and she's now in season, she was fine to handle and travel, tack up, etc. but was less willing under saddle and the odd crabby moment. That meant 1 blip in both runs but that was fine.
I was really pleased she stayed with me and the rest of each run was nice. She's usually fine when in season but I've noticed around the first and last/late one each year she seems more unhappy so I can work around that now.
Nice 3 week break for us now, she had physio last Tuesday, and she's got the farrier tomorrow, for the first time her shoes look worn, yay for hacking. :) Then at the end of the week, we're having an autumn vet check to see if operation get fit and slim has worked. I think it has :D
