Did Lucinda take Brit round the long way

I pondered on this too, and decided she must have had two plans, if she felt full of it, go direct route, if tiring, play safe..
The fittest horse to me all day appeared to be Miners Frolic..he looked full of running at the end.

I understood she had instructions not to take any risks because of the team position?

I don't think Brit looked tired. I think if Lucinda had been riding as an individual she would have gone the straight route.

I have to say though that overall, I thought she rode a little defensively, and not her best

(runs for cover...)

I don't think she looked overly tired but who knows I'd be lying under a duvet crying if I had to jump that course so I'm not really in a position to judge!

Brit finished with the slowest heartrate of the day - lucinda said that she was finding that brit thought it was too small and that she needed more of a test...

Didn't someone say earlier that Brit didn't have her head in gear because she never got a proper gallop?? Apparently Lucinda didn't think the twisty course suited her that much.
If that was the case, she probably didn't feel Brit was concentrating enough, possibly team orders too.

Team orders.

Cinda said in her interview that Brit was still full of running at the end and had finished really well.

Umm,, how can anyone think that she looked tired????!!!!! She was so full of running that she could have done that course twice! She looked sooo strong that either Lucinda did not want to take the risk of taking the short routes or it was team orders

Persoanlly I think thehorse looked far too strong and, although i think the long routes were taken due to team orders, i don't think I'd have fancied coming in at the speed that horse goes to some of the trickier combinations! Maybe it did need more of a galloping course cos she still looked to be giving lucinda a fight right to the end!!!

Fab little horse but crackers!

it was team orders apparently, she went the long way at fence 18 too. she hadn't got into a rhythm and that mare is not at all easy to ride xc, she has to be ridden in a very very specific way, Cinders is a genius with her imho, keeps her blood up and gets her a bit fighty to a fence but still listening, very difficult balance to achieve. (the mare had a reputation for stopping at the lower levels, no-one would buy her.)

i suspect it was a mixture of things. cinda will definately have been given certain team orders which considering the opposition in australia to her selection, she couldnt have ignored. The course was rather easy for Brit who does get dead keen and was clearly fighting for her head the whole way so beeter not to take a risk one from home (think how close team GB were not to have three with run outs at that fence instead of one for example) and also Lucinda can be pretty sure about Brits showjumping so she will still make up some ground today. as said before dont forget leslie law started the last day in eleventh in athens....

Blimey, I wish I hadn't asked this question, that's twice on two different threads I've had myhead bitten off.
I didn't *think* she looked tired, I was pondering on her reasons, which I did not know, having not heard any feedback.
The more polite and informed people on here have now explained that it was mainly team orders, and I can also particularly see that an overstrong horse would equally be safer going round the long way.
I do think some people on here are so far up themselves one would think they'd ridden the bl**dy horse themselves.
