Did you rug last night?

Rain sheet on all the time at the moment

she hates the rain and won't eat of she gets too wet.

Had to vote "other" because my answer's not completely in any other category. Rainsheets only on the two veteran girls (age 24 and 27). The 3 boys stayed naked and seemed fine. They all live out 24/7.

mine hates the rain, and will not eat at all if she gets wet (just stands there looking pathetic) so she got kept in yesterday as the weather here was appalling.

lightweight rugs but with their hoods. Would have got them in during the day if the stables were ready, Amazingly some horses in other fields had their fly rugs still on

and yes it was belting down all day !

I answered other, mine has to come in at night but yes he did have a lightweight turnout on yesterday, he's a wimpy TB

Mine had to come in for some treatment yesterday. He lives out 24/7 unrugged and is a TB eventer. He was toasty warm in his field, tried to protest at being caught as he really did not want to come in and made me follow him to the other end of the field before he gave in and let me put the headcollar on....and the only point at which he started shivering was when he had to stand in his stable waiting for the chiro to arrive, at which point I chucked a fleece on him for 10 mins. Can't imagine why anyone would think he needs to be rugged? He's not made of icing and doesn't seem to shrink in the rain

I relented yesterday and brought them in.
They have been wearing very light weight macs. TBH its really only my elderly tb who is feeling the cold right now, the other two are fine.
They couldnt wait to get out last night, were thoroughly fed up by being in their stables.

THANK GOD.............. i've read this i feel so much better as mine are the only ones naked at my yard........................

tis summer and it is warm.......................

You bet! Medium weight all day, with hood overnight.
Rug got saturated within two hours, but as he's trashed his heavyweight, couldn't swap it for anything. Got his thin summer one on at the moment, and will probably put the medium on again tonight.

Left mine out without rugs felt bad until the sun came up ,they would have overheated this morning. My tb sweats in a rug and it wasnt cold didnt rain until 8 oclock and was sunny early hours.

My boy was in all day and he usually has a lightweight rug on but I did'nt think it was going to rain so we put on his fly sheet and put him out. I don't think it rained much through the night I took him in a 8am and will keep him in all day. But have to say he was'nt cold or shivering so I did'nt feel too bad.

I put other, George comes in at night but he was out all day naked, didn't seem any worse for wear other than looking like a drowned rat and being damp smelling a bit yuck!

That's the thing - even in the rain it is really warm - 16 degrees! 20 when it stops raining. Not nearly cold enough to warrant rugs.

S-C: i keep thinking what rugs are these folks going to use in mid-winter when there's a howlin north-east wind with ground frozen rock hard ground and trying to snow

My TB is out 24x7 naked too. It might be wet but it is mild and he has plenty of shelter in the field (which he only ever seems to choose to use in the baking sunshine!)

Mine all come in at night anyway, but the boys have been wearing summer t/o's in the day and fleeces by night, and the babies have been naked throughout.

He is half Highland and designed for this weather!
He has a natural field shelter of trees. He is not a fan of rain, but he dislikes hot sunshine more.

Knew weather was going to be crud so brought in on Wednesday night, kept in until about 3pm yesterday when I turned her out with a thin combo rug. Got her in again at about 7pm. She's only a yearling but our paddocks have zero shelter and over look cliffs out to sea. VERY, VERY WINDY. I noticed the paddock I'd turned her out in for those few hours was really saturated when I went to get in. She'd made deep holes where she'd been walking about. Don't think I'd have wanted her out too much longer TBH. FLAMING WEATHER

It's horrible here! Started raining heavily about 4am this morning, went and caught them all at 7am - all freezing cold, soaked and shivering. Have been in all day - our field now resembles a lake and we still have horizontal rain so its not looking likely they'll be out tonight.... So much for summer
