I was supposed to get my puppy on Saturday morning.
Mum spent all of Thursday and Friday trying to get me not to get her, because she was worried. Eventually she realised that wasn't going to work.
So Friday night and all of Saturday I was ringing my best friend (he bred the pups) he didn't answer
He eventually rang me back last night at like 9pm, and said his phone wasn't working properly, (not sure if I believe this) and I arranged to pick her up at about 10pm, (but wouldn't be able to feed her because the shops were shut, and wouldn't be able to tire her out or get her used to the crate for the night) Mum talked me out of it, I had doubts for a while as to whether this puppy was right for me and mum made some good points.
I'd be lying if I said that this pup was right for me, but I am gutted and I really hope she gets a nice home

To be honest, I think this is for the best RG.

She was locked in a smoke filled room with her pups and he was prepared to let you have the pup weeks too early, am I correct?
As I have said before, I wouldn't support people like him as you are only encouraging him to breed more.
He needs to get her neutered and stop making money from her.

If yours is the story I remember, then it's fair to say you've probably had a lucky escape!

I feel for the puppies, but it doesn't sound like they've had a good start at all, which could cause you all manner of issues later down the line.

Mind you....My puppy doesn't arrive for 12 days and I already have a dog bed, toys, blankets, feed and water bowls, little lead and collar, bottles of dettol, kitchen roll, a new mop and bucket just for "puppy accidents", a crate and some food! I like to be prepared.

I completely agree CaveCanem (Btw, what does that mean?)
That was one of the deciding factors, the way the pup was brought up and also the fact that being a beagle I don't think she would have fit in quite so well as other breeds.
I had doubts but pushed them to the back of my mind.

My mum knows I wanted a spaniel, and said I can have a spaniel in xmas, when I have more spare cash and a spaniel will fit in better.
But I'm not yet 100%, I may get one, I may not. I dont want to make another mistake. So lots of research before looking at any puppies.

Patches: I love preparing for puppies, I have a crate all set up with toys etc in my room. Luckily I couldn't work out what size collar to get, so everything I have can be used on a diff puppy.

It is Latin for "beware of the dog", RG (and is 'menace vac' backwards, as a kind HHOer informed me last week

)

Research is always good - hearts ruling heads is the reason so many unhealthy, uncared for puppies get bought and 'saved' by people who feel sorry for them - but it just fuels the trade, harsh as that seems.

Like I say, I think you have done the right thing.

I agree that it is for the best although very disappointing for you I am sure. I think if you are honest with yourself this pup was a bit of an impulse buy, never a good thing imo. And I am shocked that any "breeder" would try and persuade you to take a pup at 10 pm, what chance has the poor little soul of settling before its first night. Do loads of research and you will find the right dog for you, good luck and keep us updated.

Thank you MurphysMinder.
Thats what I thought too, I wanted to pick pup up at 10am Saturday, so that I could tire her out and get her settled/used to the crate through the day.
And have her all wkd before going to work.

I just hate the fact I waited 6 weeks for her, and now am back to having to wait like a month, or more
