Diesels put a tooth through his tongue.

Got back from our walk this afternoon and Diesel had a mouthful of blood, it seems hes bitten his tongue and split the end of it. Have rung vet who said providing it had stopped bleeding(it had) there wasnt a lot they could do. A friend came up so we could have a good look at it and it dosnt look too bad. The vet has rung to check everthing was still ok and said it was all right to feed him. He has had his dinner and I gave him a spoonfull of Manuka honey which I thought might help, he loved it

So is there anything else I can do for him ? he is bright and normal in his self, its just that I feel I should be doing more.

It started bleeding again last night and we had another look at it(he is so good) and my daughter thinks he has caught it on barbed wire.

Gave him some more honey and it stopped again but he has a little forked tongue now but it is not bothering him.

I cant believe how he did it and it was worrying as there was a lot of blood, daft dog just glad Ive got him insured.

Poor Diesel, what on earth was he doing licking barbed wire! Tongues and ears do bleed when they are nicked, can be quite scary. I had one who bit her tongue and had a forked tongue for the rest of her life, never seemed to bother her. As long as he isn't worried by it and is eating okay I would think you are okay to just keep an eye on it,hopefully will soon heal. Good idea to use Manuka honey, its great stuff.
