Just had blood test results for very lethargic horse - raised liver enzymes. So now looking at low protein/low fat diet. Only had chance for quick chat with vet tonight, will get more info on Monday, and hopefully some hepatosyl. We want to avoid any steroid treatment if possible because of laminitis risk. Will be starting her on milk thistle as soon as we can get some, hopefully tomorrow.
From the wealth of experience on HHO, what works best? Is it preferable to have a 'detox' diet without extra supplementation, say fast fibre or beet pulp/chaff, or is it helpful to carry on with a good broad spectrum vit/min supplement, and is anything else useful?
Horse is a good doer, and in good condition at the moment, so weight gain is not a requirement.
Thanks for any suggestions!
