A hack is typically a very fine TB type and has a height limit too. Depends on what type and height your ex racer is as to which class he would suit. No reason why you can't show an ex racer as a hack, some of the most successful ones came off the track. Hunters too. Have you got a photo and how big is he?

traditionally, hacks were the horses that people in the old days, used to ride to the park to on a Sunday to pose and go on the pull....
classes split into small and large (on height) - should be fine, elegant with a stunning floaty action....

Hacks are small and delicate. Manners are a HUGE part of it. They should be very well schooled and give a light and easy ride for anyone who gets on them. Im pretty sure they dont have to gallop.

Hunters are bigger, with more bone and with a much more gung ho way of going. Again well schooled and polite but they DO need to show a good gallop. Are are generally less pretty and poncy and more forwards and well ready to hunt all day.
