I know when you have to move from Restricted to Open but is there a difference in the way you are marked ? My marks have always been lower for Open and at first I thought I was just getting worse but hten noticed that mots of the Open marks for a test seem to be lower than the Restricted ones. Is this just coincidence or something in it ?

i always wonder what the difference is too, as we always have to enter BD shows on a ticket as the rider is foreign.... I always put her in the open class, but not sure if I actually have to, or if I just play it safe each time!

Does anyone know what the rule should be for foreign riders on a ticket - open or restricted?

The judge sits in her car or a box and the writer scribbles on the sheet. The judge gets the sheet in order to put her comments on the bottom and sign it. She ought not to know who you are, or what group you are in, until she gets the sheet at the end of the test.

Can't say I have noticed a difference in my marks from restricted to open. I still get the same meddley of the good marks for the good tests, the bad marks for the bad tests and the insane marks from the insane judges!

As a writer the judges do not oftern ask if people are restricted open or training. It makes no difference to how you are marked. The writer fills in the top of the sheet and the comments and marks. The judge then writes the collectives and comments after the test has been judged.

Foreign riders automatically go into Rider Group 3 unless you can get the equivalent of BD in the country where passport is held to prove that you don't have dressage points there to warrant it.
