I am considering options with my boy. I dont want to full ,loan him as still want to be able to ride once a week or so but as is all I can manage at present with work baby etc I thought of sharing or part loaning but dont know the difference. I want him to stay on current yard as really happy there well looked after and I want to still ride him and have input, he is on full livery ( not ridden ) and I would want some financial contribution but not that much. What does anyone think and how much should I ask. he is best as happy hack all though does have his moments, little jumping if fine and he loves it and is really safe to jump and sharer / loaner could do little competitions at the yard with him baby dressage /clear round jumping etc. He does really not like schooling and I have worked hard to overcome this so would not want anyone else flat schooling him. grids jumping would be fine. thanks for ideas !

I used to have a part loan/sharer (no real difference in my book) for one of my boys. She'd ride him/muck etc on her 3 days, and I'd do the others. She paid half the livery, but I'd foot the bill for everything else - shoes, shavings, feed, vet, insurance etc.

Now, though, he's off on full loan to a lovely family. He's moved yards (locally) and they have total responsibility for everything. We have signed a watertight contract so there is no misunderstanding with anything.

I think it's academic whether you call it part loan or sharing. I guess part loan is a little more formal, with a contract, and more structured responsibility??

Hope it works out for you. :)
