I'm getting my neddie a new saddle but not sure what to go for. I love schooling, although ned not so keen, and would love a dressage saddle but would also like to pop the odd log or do a jumping lesson with riding club. So spotted some working hunter saddles which look a bit like a GP/dressage saddle cross.
What do you think would be my best options to look at?

Although I have a hard to fit horse with big shoulders I've just gone for a VSD. It means i can do everything on it without having to have a working hunter (though I could use it in these classes) and isn't as forward cut as a GP.

My master saddler on Monday said a WH is a dressage saddle without the extra-long girth straps. I was in same quandry as you as I have a jumping saddle, never going to compete dressage so no point buying a specific DR saddle, so thought of a WH. I went for a VSD in the end.

wondered how you got on scribbles!

I have a dressage and a GP (both second hand and I treated myself to the dr recently) I have ridden in my friends WH but wouldn't really like to jump much in it, simliar to my dressage in lot of ways but with a flatter seat, I don't think the knee rolls were much different.

I had a jeffries stamford WH for my young horse it was very versatile and super comfy to ride long or short on, he was supposed to be my dressage project but things didn't work out and he needed variety so PXed my dressage saddle for it, it was supportive for schooling but not so deep you couldn't wack the stirrups up and go hunting or xc. It was a lovelly saddle and I totally regret selling it when Ryu went.

That's a nice looking saddle Honeypots. I really like it.
My mare has v wide shoulders so maybe something straighter cut might serve her better and we are not going to be doing much jumping. I would like something deep too as I can be a bit nervous and would feel safer with a more dressage-esque seat.
I'll see what my saddler reccomends next week and let you all know what I decide, but thanks for your help.

Vielseitigkeitssättel dressur. Much easier to say very slightly dressage though!

I also have a VSD as I have a no-withered, wide-backed big-shouldered Welsh cob.

I am also contemplating another saddle (in addition to the one I have) and was thinking about a WH, as we have just started jumping, and I would like to do WH in addition to a bit of dressage and M&M which I already do.

I will still try one, but I think Ester may have made my mind up for me and I'll just get another VSD. Only in brown
