Hi, I have posted on here alot about my lad that was diagnosed with laminitis in one foot.
Well today is the day when on vet instructions I am to cut his bute down from 1 twce per day to half a sachet twice a day instead and I am nervous of the effect it might have on his recovery.
He has been sound on 1 bute twice a day with no digital pulse to be felt and on vets instructions potters about in his stable and a 12 x 12 area outside during the day and in his stable at night.
I guess I am a nervous nelly in case he is not sound when I get home or his recovery does not continue in the positive manner it has been!!
What difference do you think it would make being on the cut down amount of bute to a 15hh welsh cob weighing 440kg on the tape??

i was exactly the same as you with this, very nervous. When going from half a sachet to nothing, i virtually did it one granule less each day

. My pony was fine and after 3 months box rest is now sound and fingers crossed, staying sound. if the vet has said reduce the dose, it should be fine and if not, you are more likely to see a very gradual deterioration rather than anything dramatic, which you can pick up on and speak to the vet straight away. keep checking for pulses though, there isn't any more you can do.

Good luck, hope it goes smoothly, is he eating ok now? x
