Thanks to the thread on here I've started looking at getting one for Grey Mare (I know, clutching at straws, but worth a go).

On first reading there seems quite a difference in price for what appears to be the same technology.

Anyone in the know with regards to these things?

I have some surprisingly non-stale mincepies and a rather nice fresh pot of tea as way of thank you :D

Can't help with your question, but interested too.
My horse will soon be having kissing spine surgery- could I use one of these units on him for help with that?

I think that essentially the technology is similar, but because of the way the kits are designed, the delivery (& therefore results) can be different:

The main differences seem to be:

1 :Microvet: individual adhesive pads, which do not always secure very well/easily on hairy skin!

Arc : elasticated leg strap with electrodes inbuilt, so very easy to apply/get good contacts/circuits.Don't seem to slip, even overnight.

2 : MV batteries (?)....Arc rechargeable

3 : MV 4 preset programmes....Arc has controller unit which can be set to deliver variable programmes depending on condition (this is the most important thing in my view)

4 : MV self-contained unit , 1 per horse.......Arc, one controller can be used with several delivery units, so cheaper if want to expand system to use on multiple horses.

I'm sure others may know of other factors, but these are the ones that spring to mind!!

We have worked with the Micro vet and it was a nightmare to keep on the horse- but does that make £200 difference?

Well, if you can't keep it on the horse, then it won't work anyway....so the price is irrelevant.....!!

....but seriously....when you combine the ease of use (less stress all round!) with the variability of the programmes available with the arc, I think it is more than worth the extra.

Daft questions alert!

Does one need the variability on the control? As I have no idea about the science, etc., I want/need something that's idiot proof...

Can the sticky things be bandage on?

I'll spend the extra £200 if necessary, just like to know where the need is :)

Now onto crumpets and a long handled toasting fork :D. There's butter, jam, and honey, plus the kettle is on again :D

Mrs M... currently using this on my ligs and tendons.... its early days yet - so will keep you posted but i have had a load of bruising come out all of a sudden?? considering the accident was nigh on 10 weeks ago its maybe just a coincidence that the bruises came out on the 3rd day of using the unit??

Don't quote me on this but I'm sure when I was first researching the ARC I found an old thread on here that said the Microvet was a pre-runner of the ARC and I think Ian may have also been involved with it at some point - but I can't now find the thread on here so I may be wrong.

Exactly right :D

Haha it does help! but it was a nightmare!! I cursed the damn thing daily. But it least it was hired from the vet- just a lot of money to fork out if its going to be annoying and fall off!

And it doesnt change the time of healing, it just promotes- well surely magnets work in same way?!
I'm keen to help my horse but wary of splashing out when saving for a house!
