Is there any real difference between a french link and a lozenge ??

I think a lozenge is generally rounder...unsure ofr any diff. in action

the reason behind the question is that I have a tom thumb lozenge and want to go down a stage as such and I have a french link baucher, but not sure if the mouth piece is harsher or not. I know french links are generally mild but want to be sure

I know this has been done before but a baucher, does it lower the head ????? he has a tendancy to buck so it;s the last thing I want to happen.
