Owen's Sprenger bit (this one) Sprenger snaffle is going with him to his loan home tomorrow, which means that I now have no bit for Ellie, who goes superbly well in the same bit. So have got to buy another, but they are so expensive (£67) This NS one looks pratically the same and is half price. Nue Schlue Do you think that this one would be just as good as the Sprenger? or worse? as The Sprenger one has the 'special 45 degree link' and is a different metal.
I know that I could try the NS and then decide, but really dont want to be flaffing about! Has anyone tried the two of them?

I actually bought a much cheaper copy from www.barnstormers.co.uk and can't tell the difference. My Cob does have a Neue Schule bradoon in his double bridle though, because they make them with the stainless steel rings.

Give Heather a call at Neue Schule, she is extremely helpful. Explain which Sprenger you have and she will be able to tell you which of her range matches it but I think the one you are looking at is the same. Alternatively look at the Neue Schule web site.

I cannot comment on the Sprenger but have several Neue Schule bits. What I like about them is the fact the come in a good variety of sizes including quarter inch, often I find a 5 inch bit too small and a 5.5 too large, this is not a problem with the Neue Schule range.

If you ring Heather and order ask her for free postage, she normally says OK and all my orders have arrived next day if placed before 2pm.

So far as I know, the NS tranz is the same as the KK ultra (i.e. the lozenge sits at the same angle). The metal is almost identical too, just called something different.

Sadly the Shires training bits are not the same as the Sprenger or the Neue Schule. The lozenge in the more expensive bit is set on at an angle therefore giving a different action on the tongue. Shame as it would be nice to only have to spend about £16.

About £60!
