My RI has recommended trying Daisy in a dutch gag when i take her out hunting. She's a real sweety to school and hack and normally goes in a loose ring snaffle but will just occassionally get excited and I suspect that hunting will be one of those times. I borrowed a friend's to try her in yesterday out hacking to see if she was happy in it and it was just right, no difference to her action, just slightly better brakes.

Two issues arose though - both bits were a 5 1/2" but the gag seemed a bit small in her mouth. Am I better to buy a 6" or would that be too big?

Her bridle is normally one from the top on each side on the cheek pieces but obviously the extra ring meant that I needed to shorten the cheekpieces to make it fit in the mouth correctly. Even on top hole it wasn't quite as high as I would like, there was one crease in the corner of her mouth but she seemed to be mouthing alot, is this normal with a new bit or would that suggest that it could have been a bit higher?
