Different feeds AM & PM...?

What's everybody's opinion of feeding entirely different feeds in the morning and evening?

Basically, the horse in question does best on A&P Power & Performace, but as it's soaked each feed is quite large, and he just doesn't eat it in the morning (anticipating going out). Unfortunately there's no way I can change his routine to overcome this, and no matter how long I leave him with his feed in the morning he just gives up and abandons it part way through.

So, I'm thinking about just giving him something quicker to eat in the morning. I've already switched him on to baileys No 4 (AM and PM), which works, but I'd prefer power and performance, as this is what he does best on (and horse prefers it too). So I'd be feeding Baileys No 4 in the morning and Power & Performance in the evening.

So, is this something worth trying, or could it cause digestive problems?

TIA :D

I feed sugarbeet and suppliments in the evening when I feed my mare. Mainly because my YO just puts the feeds in as they are in the mornings and I was taught sugarbeet fements overnight. And suppliemts at night so she she can pick at her food overnight, she won't eat it as breakfast if she knows she is going out!! Fussy sod.

Mine are never interested in the morning either. They have so much hay that they always have some left, so are not hungry.

They either get nothing in the morning, or just a toekn handful to keep them amused whilst the others are fed.

They get a feed in the evening with supplements in.

Mine's only fed in the evening, although garenteed she would eat it if I fed her in the morning! As long as its routine it shouldn't matter if they are fed slightly different AM and PM.

Thanks for replies :)

Annoying though, isn't it? Worth mentioning perhaps that the horse is a TB, and not a particularly good doer, so could really do with the morning feed. His joint supp & pink powder are supposed to be twice daily too.

Our girl is a poor doer and a TB as well, if we gave her the same as her dinner in the morning she wouldn't touch it and it's a waste!

So she just gets her baileys no 4 and a few carrots. And also her garlic. Then she becomes a prize idiot, like "Put my rug on and get me to that field now woman!!" :D

But she's fine and doing well through the winter with that arrangement! :)

Perhaps you could try just the No 4 and put her supplements in with that?
