Go….!

Im looking to replace the dividing fence between mine and my neighbours fields. Its old stock fencing at the moment, really old, and his cobs are leaning on it and flattening it grr (yes we WILL be going halves on the new one!)

Im not keen on post and rail, will just get eaten/sat on etc so other types / makes / reccs

Thankyou :)

I do too but need more a definitive barrier - Im wondering about horse mesh with a top board and off set insulators both sides with proper cattle wire, much better conductivity !

I went to this fabulous Arab stud in Somerset and they had the most amazing fencing. It was plastic with integrated power! It looked like real wood fencing until you got close up.

Sorry tt but at the time I was more interested in the fillies n colts so didnt ask what it was but I thought you could google plastic electrified fencing.... :)

Oh Tallyho tut tut you can't wave the holy grail then not know the name! Any idea on the stud name?

Not Hippo safety fencing?

I have tornado horse netting, it's fab. I use electric either side, and that seems to be, touch wood, very successful. The only issue I hacpve, is that my youngstock still manage to chew the wooden posts! Inbetween the electic!

I also use tornado horse netting. It isn't anything like stock net, the holes are tiny, there are no sharp bits and it is very heavy and high tension (it can only be installed by a proper fencing contractor for that reason, DIY can't get the tension). 5 years old now and it's as taut as the day it was put in, and also has the advantage that it is also a stock net if you do ever sell the place or choose to put sheep on to reduce worms/improve the pasture temporarily (oh and it's dog proof too!).

It is not however cheap, but nothing quality is.

I would ditto the Tornado fencing. When the cob next door to me trashes the standard stock fencing I plan to do this. It will not take him long! I have post and rail as well on my side of the fence which my cob x has not destroyed but I would electrify it she did try to destroy it. I want some form of stock fencing on the outside though to keep dogs out.

I looked at tornado recently when replaceing one of my boundary fences it was seriously expensive so I went for post and rails with electric pig tails .
While I appreciate all the disadvantages of P+R it is at least easily repaired without any specialist help and I have not had a horse break one since I had them all pig tailed with turbo rope .

I got a total bargin for ten rolls of tornado fencing last year just waiting for contractor to put if up. If you do go down this line make sure the person who puts it up knows what they are doing its really hard to get the correct tension.

Yes stud was Black Arabian Stud near Frome, Somerset! They may be Arabians in Black now. Great facilities! They'd just moved there from wales (I think).
