My hubbys friend who is a farmer has the facility to keep horses on his farm. He has stables, a couple of paddocks and a great area for hacking. I know how much the stabling there would be per month, and the horses can be out 24/7 during summer and then have to be stabled at night in the winter.

I was just wondering how much people would pay for (I think you would call it) grass livery/ live out??

Thanks

About £15pw if there's no school. £20-25 if there's a school.

ETA: the above are what I consider to be reasonable costs. Round here (Kent) yards with good facilities charge up to £40pw for grass livery - which I certainly wouldn't be willing to pay.

I pay £20 pcw for assisted grass livery (she feeds him his sandwich and does his sweetitch treatment for me mon - fri). We have no school, but do have a grass field that is kept horse free for riding in. I'm in Kent and have never come across any of the yards Ziggy_ talks about, thanks goodness!

£40 for grass livery! that seems a bit excessive!

The farm I was talking about charges £100 per month (stabling at night from Nov - feb or march) and that includes hay and straw.

I know some people prefer for their horses to live out all year so I wanted to make a bit of comparison for grass livery and DIY livery. TBH there does not seem to be much diff in cost from what people are saying.

I do working livery at riding school for £45 a week, this includes all food and hay and bedding and thay look after her totaly when I cant take son(11) up to ride, he rides 3 times week and more in school hols, and pony club fridays after school. Horse has stable and turn out with rug but she can stay in if its really cool, she is happy there.
