Difficult Situation

Hi,

Ive had a pony on loan for nearly a year and have began to think of him as my own. The owner had never ridden him for about 1 year year and a half prior to me taking him. She has never contacted me at all since I have had him but I have rang her several times to let her know how hes getting on.And she basically said when I took him she didnt want him back-he wasnt even there when I went to collect him. I got him as a friend of mine is best friends with the owner. I want to move him a couple of hours away to college with me but Im worried that this will be against the loan contract she did say that she didnt want him back and so in effect he was mine however I have no proof of this on paper.

Sorry for the ramble but im literally unable to sleep beacause of this!! please help

i'd get in contact with her, maybe take/send recent pics of him looking really good, say how much he means to you etc... if she's been happy up till now with you having him, i can't see why she'd want to change the arrangement now. perhaps get proof on paper if you can, do you have his passport?
 
I do have his passport. However when I told her last time that I was moving him just down the road she said she wasnt really happy about it and that she would ring me back. She never did and I just moved him anyway and hes been happy there since. I had thought of buying him how much do you think he would be worth?

nothing extra special about him but i love him to bits and ive put alot of work into him since i got him. any ideas?
 
I would contact the owner, say you wish to move the pony to...and does she have any problems with it! I would ask for something in writting whether it be shes handed over ownership or that shes aware of where hes being kept, just so she cant turn round and say you have tried to steal him.
 
She can't be that worried about money for him otherwise she would of sold in the first place! I know people that have bought a pony for like £20 just so some money has exchange hands between buyer and seller.
 
To be honest, I think you should just give her a call. I had a similar situation with Zoom and her owner called me last week and I bought her for a pound. Think of what you want to say and write it down before you call. You may find that she will be glad to relinqish ownership!
 
Either visit the owner or write to her if she won't answer or return phone calls. She has to give you permission to move the horse. I never hear from my horse's owners but I still wouldn't move him without permission.
 
Tell them that if you can't move the horse you may have to consider returning him, although you wouldn't want to practically you may not have much option.

If the owners really don't give a nark about the horse they won't want him returning and presumably if you are off to college this is true.
