I cannot seem to find a bit that my irish draught mare is comfortable in. I know they usually have large tongue's and as she is constantly trying to get her tongue over the bit I am pretty sure she is uncomfortable. We do a lot of dressage so whatever I use has to be dressage legal! Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I have had massiiiiiiiive problems getting my ISH mare happy. We have finally settled on an NS Hanging Baucher with lozenge. It has taken since last February to sort though. We went through an awful lot in the process. Have you spoken to the person at Shop4Bits? She is very helpful and you can hire most things from her at a very reasonable rate.

i have a large cob x with large tounge and he never seemed happy, i now swear by neu schule, he has a comfy contact for rda work and when i ride him he has a ns demi anky lozenge which he goes brilliant in

Something with athin mouthpiece and angled arms may help you. A baucher is helpful as it is suspended in their mouths nad should stop any tongue pressure, but if it is the 18mm width would be too wide in the horses mouth so can still make them fussy. Try either a myler comfort snaffle (neue schule do a "comfy contact" which is identicle in design) or a JP snaffle as they have curved bars and reduce the pressue of their tongues. Both are quite slim bits aswell so will not take up too much room. My horse is very fussy about tongue pressure and has a small mouth, but loves his JP.

The Neue Shule Team up with the 12mm mouthpice would also be a worth while bit to try.
