difficulty of b+e trailer test

Im due to do my test end of sept and am seriously bricking it now, how difficult or easy is it to pass? what are classed as major faults?
 
I passed first time, as have many friends who have taken it, I think they judge it pretty fair (they don't set out to fail you!)

When I took it the main fails would be things like the hitching up and the reversing manouvere, which you can do lots of practice beforehand :) You could also fail on the emergency stop, but I believe this is no longer in the test.

Apart from that you just need to remember the same things as a driving test- always check your blindspot, don't false signal, mirrors mirrors mirrors, safe stopping distances, keep left unless overtaking, obeying speed limits (but make sure you go fast enough, remember you don't have a horse in the back!) etc.

Good luck- I was very very nervous with mine, was worried sick I would make a silly mistake!!
 
My friends both passed first time, one with two minors and one with just one! I would probably fail as I have NO spatial awareness and I am rubbish at parking a normal size car at the moment!
 
I did mine a few weeks ago and passed. very nearly failed over something silly though. You no longer have to do an emergency stop. Its mostly common sense which makes it easy to fail. you get minors and serious like in a normal driving test. So providing you dont run anyone over while on your drive youl be fine! plenty of practice. They are observation and indication crazy, if you are moving around something and claiming more road then observe and indicate blah blah! as said above, stick to speed limits, you are not expected to drive like you have a horse in the back or you will be done for progression, i got two minors for progression which i could have argued because it was a built up residential area.
 
If in doubt remember mirror-signal-manouevre. Remember to check mirrors BEFORE not as you do something, so check them before you get to the point where you need to brake (as if you have a t1t on your tail you will need to brake earlier & more gently for example. When the trailer isn't attached to your car use the handbrake. When rehitching assume you have never seen the trailer before, so check everything, wheels, load, that the handbrake is on before you start to reverse back. Otherwise it's basic driving skills, lane discipline, good position on road, anticipation of other road users actions, checking not assuming things (remember blindspots?). As said, don't drive as though you have a horse in the back or you will be penalised for going too slow & hesitancy. Drive as though it is empty. They are not testing your ability to give a horse a compassionate ride. Also be confident you know road speeds, where you can go the speed limit & where your speed is limited. Good luck!
 
well i just failed mine on tues:o:( instructor said he would have put money on me sailing through, Im a good driver and was doing the reverse 100% in practise in an area marked out the same. Then when it came to the test I forgot I could get out to check how far back id gone and just lined the trailer up in my mirror exactly as I had been, except my seat or something must have been moved as I ended up a few inches further back over the line than i thought i was and i bumped the barrier:o:o:o
 
i think the worse thing is that im doing it in a city where i have never driven before, might go and have a drive round near the test centre and get my bearings, although im doing the 2 day intensive course before the test so should be ok. my friends going to do lots of practising with me beforehand. fingers crossed x
