Hi, I am doing my third year dissertation on the effectiveness of digestion supplements such as Yea-sacc from Dodson and Horrell and probiotics (Newcastle University). I am doing a feed trial to establish whether there is less undigested feed in the faeces etc. But i would also like to back up my research with the views of the owner to whether they believe the supplement improves the condition of the horse etc.. I was wondering how many people would be willing to fill out a questionnaire (supplied with SAE) who use digestive supplements. If you are please could you pm me your home address so that I could send you the questionnaire. This will not be ready until sept/oct as will have to have clearence from my tutor and all addresses will be strictly confidential and not passed on to a third party.
Thank you very much it would be a great help to get the suppport from the Horse and Hound readers.

I dont use any digestion supplements as such, mine get garlic salt which helps towards keeping flies away and to ease digestion.

What are the criteria for a "digestion supplement"? I have my mare on NAF Pink Powder (contains yea-sacc), but mostly because it's a feed balancer (and the digestion benefits on the side). Is that any good for your survey?

Likewise, I use it as a combination multivit as well as pro biotic

I use Dengie Optimum as my gelding has allergies that mean he is limited in what he can eat - it helps him get the most out of his limited diet. If this is the kind of experience you are looking for, feel free to PM me & I would be happy to help.

I would be happy to fill in your questionnaire but not happy I'm afraid to give you my home address. Would it be possible for you to e-mail an electronic version instead perhaps?

Yes all of those are great, its to get an idea of incase the supplement doesnt work in my feed trial, is there a placebo effect on the owner? so anything that suggests it improves digetstion qualifys! I will ask to specify the supplement used on the questionaire anyway, would be happy to email too so that would be great, thanks!
