Right...

Had a young horse, just gone 4. Started riding away fine and then went lame infront, firstly on the front right and then front left. Not major lameness but went to Newmarket for investigation, scans all clear. Hes been sound for 6 weeks now and started (trying) to hack and done small amounts on the lunge to check soundness. He is having until my menage is built in aug off now for good measure but could start real work now if I wanted to as has nothing physiologically the matter with him, the lameness was down to the fact he grew 2inches in 12 weeks!

Anyway, started going out. Noticed yesterday when I checked him after bringing him in that he had a significant digital pulse in the left fore, nothing in the right. Lunged him on the concrete and sound both reins. No heat, no swelling and no heat in the hoof. He was out from 8 till 6 yesterday and did have a mad 15min galloping around.

This morning the pulse was gone, still sound and again no heat or swelling.

Turned out today, for a much shorter period of 3 - 7. Checked pulse and has a slight pulse again left fore and again no heat or swelling. Sound on the lunge on the concrete both reins. He had no hooley round the field today.

I am assuming he has some kind of sugar intolerance. Its just unusual from experience to only feel a pulse in one leg? I was worried as it was the leg he was lame last on but scans showed nothing was even wrong bar growing pains. He wears boots out and has no cut, heat or swelling to suggest a knock.

If anyone has had similar please let me know.

If it is the sugar I am glad I got it early because as a horse I intend to compete I can now control his feeding and turnout towards this.

My hunter who is turned out on very little grass has very slight digital pulse in both front legs. Very unusal for him. Trots up sound (for a hunter?!) but still slightly there. Appeared just after he was shod. Not had any work for 3 weeks due to hols......was going to move him into another field but may not now.

A few horses I know have gone down with Lami this year that have never had it before! I am not near this stage yet but I am aware that I need to be careful. Its the one leg bit I am finding odd. He hasnt been shod recently. I havn't had him long but as he has already had problems due to growth I am being super careful with him as I need him competing soon.

The paddock he is in doesnt have much grass but I think I will limit him to a couple of hours a day out, difficult when he isnt in work but much easier when he is!

It just seems much more common now than I remember it ever being
