Horse had low grade laminitis in 2009, managed very carefully with no recurrence since then, but has a long-term stifle problem and threw a splint last year. Has been off work for six months, and is now barefoot. Footy to start with, still a bit ouchy on sharp stones, but feet looking good She is only ever used for light hacking, nothing athletic, she is worked according to how sound she is
Very careful management of grazing, but has just gone onto new grass for 2-3 hours a day. Weight good, if anything marginally underweight. Now starting to lunge in school, hoping to get back on her in about ten days.
Had a total hooley in school yesterday and was lame on 'bad' stifle in trot, which is quite usual for her in similar circumstances. Trotted up sound in field this morning. Lunged far more sensibly this afternoon for fifteen minutes, overtracking by about six inches in a good free walk. But when I picked her feet out afterwards she had digital pulses in both fronts, and was very footy on the stone track back to stables. Pulses very weak after about an hour. Should I be worried? Just concerned as she's on new grass.
