dilema

I didn't want to sound rude at all! But before you do go off and buy a new martingale, make sure Wilma will walk in a stud girth! Ellie won't- absolutely refuses to move, even with major temptations and persuasion...

she seemed fine with it when i put it on to check the sizing

but i didnt walk her round, i will ride in it tomorrow

but im sure she will be fine; i have a feeling they rode her in one before as she has done lots of hunting and xc!!

I wouldnt be sure of that method either, I would go and buy another martingale if I was you.

Why not? You can always take the martingale to a saddler, have the loop opened and a clip put in. Or just use the climbing clip suggested. What possible difference can it make - except it's a sight cheaper than buring another martingale.

Yes thats a good suggestion re. the saddler CM. It would just be my personal preference not to use a carabiner as there would be no possible break point there and they are more clumbersome than a small swivel clip. I'm sure for many people it would do the job just fine...life with my horses doesn't run that smoothly!
