I already know the answer but just don't want to face it! I sincerely hope that I am worrying about nothing.

Every year I go to the Arab Nationals and make a holiday of it. It is my OH's and I only annual holiday and is planned for all year. We really look foreword to it. This year is extra special as my horse is competing in two classes. We go on Wednesday and come back Sunday. The entry and stabling fee's are over £200.

BUT

My hay hasn't been cut yet and won't be this week looking at the weather. I say my hay but it is actually my friends hay and I buy hay from her straight off the field. Last year she had it cut in early June. This year, because of the weather it still hasn't been cut and I just have the horrible feeling that it will be cut while we are supposed to be away next week.

At her place there is no way to store it other than leave it in the field and put a tarp on it and that is if I were there to stack it!

I could chance it and leave it on the field - HA Stupid with British weather

or not go to the show.

It is my years supply of hay.

Arghhhhhh I want it rain next week so it isn't cut BUT I don't want it to rain as we are at the show.

Absolutely no point to this post really just venting!

Oh that sucks :( I am totally fed up with this stupid changeable weather right now, the only positive thing that I can think to say about it is that at least it finally rained so we will get some hay.....

Perhaps it will be really sunny from tomorrow onwards and the hay will all be cut before the Nationals, don't give up hope!

Perissa, down our way last year a lot of hay was stolen off the fields because it was known there would be a shortage and prices would be high. I think you've got to get the hay. Isn't there anyone you know who could bring it in for you? It would be such a shame to miss seeing Dennis at the Nationals.

Both :)

If the hay is cut next week - ask around local friends / farmers etc... and see if they would be willing to help move it - schools are also out so you may find some willing teenagers looking for pocket money who could load/unload and stack it for you!
If it is cut next week it won't be until later in the week (if at all looking at the forecast), you may find that the show is over before it is ready for transport.

The long range forecast for us is showery/rain until end of the month. When is the show?

If necessary pay some teenagers to do the hay for you!

The show is next week and the weather forecast doesn't look too good so fingers crossed it rains, even if it means competing in the rain!

Our classes are Thursday and Friday so at worst I suppose we could leave on Wednesday and come back Friday evening.

My friend is convinced that she had at least a van load pinched off the field last year. They were stacking it until 11pm and were out again at 5am and noticed a good size patch of bales missing!

One of our local farms had round bales nicked! They worked into the night to bring in the small bales, but thought the big rounds would be safe. The whole field went.
Good luck at the show Dennis!!
