Hi right...it is that time of year and I have a rug dilemma. I am going away at the weekend (one night) and need to decide what to do about rugs as the weather is quite mild during the day but still cold at night here. My friend will give him his tea and he will be living out with a field shelter. He normally comes in at night but for one night he will be fine out as I have done this before.
ATM he is in his medium weight rug and has a light stable rug on at night if the temp is 4 degrees or below. But I have ben putting a light weight on during the day when it is warmer.
I don't want to give my friend the hassle of rug changing so my dilemma is, do I leave his medium weight on for the time I am away - so he may be a bit warm at times during the day but fine at night or wean him into his light weight over the next few days and leave him in that - so he will be fine during day but could be a bit chilly at night???
He is a native but a bit of a wimp.
Any ideas?

Have a look on the bbc website for the weather for the next 5 days. I think the temp is staying reasonable overnight, so I'd leave the light rug on as the temp could be as high as 15 during the day?

I have t.b's and an arab. Presently they are turned out in nice weather (all this week) during the day naked. At night they are having light-weight stable rugs on.

I am doing this, as I preparing them to be turned out 24/7 at the end of April.

Personally for one night, I would leave him without a rug. I think for him to be too hot during the day would be more harmful than a little cold for one night only.

Isn't the weather due to change for the weekend - I heard something about rain on the way

yes worse to be too hot than too cold
if he has plenty to eat it should help him keep warm at night, could your friend put extra hay in to help with this?
though only one night so i wouldn't worry too much
