So we went and looked at a mare today. My mum has ridden her twice before, and is obviously in love. Thing is, she's a bit too much for the rest of the family. So what do we do? She's one of the sweetest horses I've ever met, and my mum was so, so upset when she saw that she just wasn't suitable. Thing is, she probably would be fine for us in a year's time.

So what do we dooo? D:

Oh yes - It's my birthday xD

Thankyou!

She wasn't exactly strong, but very forward, and leaning on the bit. I got the feeling that she was ignoring all the rein signals. I just... Didn't feel in control at all. My sister said the same.

She was an extremely down to earth horse though, not spooky or marish at all.

Oh, she usually goes in a pelham, but was in a snaffle today. The owners said it wouldn't make a difference, because she was good in the school.

Did your mum ride her out, or just in the school? It does sound as if she is perhaps not the most suitable horse in the world, although it is so hard to know what a different schooling/feeding regime might do, or whether she was just excited to be out after being in during the bad weather. I hope your mum finds another horse to love!

My mum gallopped her out in ashton court

She's completely bomproof, really affectionate, careful, lovely stable manners... Just a bit of a handful when ridden! She's 16hh, which is a lot of horse to stop if she decided to get it into her head to bolt. Bit big for me, really. I'm used to ponies, though I've really outgrown them, and 15.2 is my ideal height.

Happy Birthday

Well if it doesnt feel right then dont go for it, you dont need to rush into anything, there will be a more suitable one out there for you, just try to think long term and good luck
