Dim question about sylage??????

Has anything changed in the last 20 years - ie can you now feed sylage or is the risk of botulism (sp?) still too high?

Just wondered in case there's a hay shortage this year (although not in my area yet)!

silage is much wetter than haylage... silage is usually cut a bit lower, cos cattle can cope with all the nasties, having 4 stomachs, much better than horses can. silage is baled the moment the grass is cut, so it's much wetter and more acidic.
i wouldn't feed silage. haylage is okay, because it's drier and less acidic. i stick to good old fashioned hay though, as i was told that haylage can cause stomach ulcers. don't know if it's true though.
