Just heard a rant from drivers who encountered some people riding back from hunting, all decked out in their usual hunting clothes - and virtually invisible to the drivers coming along the lanes.

So please, why don't you put some HighViz things in your pocket, leg bands, hatband, etc. so if you get caught in the gloom hacking home you can protect YOUR HORSE from being run into by a motorist who can't see you.
Not sure of the insurance position should you have an accident with a car and you don't have highviz.

Don't be a DIM RIDER

Totally agree - I nearly hit a horse and rider coming back from hunting last week - it was pitch black! Fortunately I spotted them and put my hazards on until they had turned off the main road. I hunt myself and appreciate how easy it is to be left hacking home in the dark so carry a cycling strip to put on over my hunt coat for this very purpose.

I have been caught out a few times, once when my 4x4 broke down and I had to hack home. I bought a little flashing light that clips on your boots & fits in your pocket ; don't know if you can still get them...

I couldn't agree more about the hi viz. You have made me think about wearing a Sam Brown belt under my jacket and moving it to hack back in the dusk.....

I keep some HighViz things in my tack box in the trailer, like a tabard and some leg bands, old ones that I don't use for hacking now.

I once got a flat tyre with the trailer and my niece had to ride the horse home, we were about 3 miles away, but some of it was on a main road so I thought it was a good idea just to have some bits and pieces in case.
