What do you want to know? My friend (well sort of!) has a dimaggio offspring which is on the Olympic Pathway. Nice horse, can be quite hot and was difficult to break in.
yes, i've got one. chestnut mare, was easy to break in, but is a bit of a natural wimp... out hacking she will sometimes fixate on something in the distance and absolutely refuse to go forwards, it seems to be genuine terror, i am not a wimp at all and i have never ever had a horse nap with me more than once before, but this one is extreme.
she is very sharp on windy days, broncs for britain, not really fun tbh and i'm pretty stickable!
also has "naturally weak tendon fibres" which seems to just be a bizarre thing from the match of my mare to the stallion, she certainly did not inherit them from her dam, who evented for years and years to Advanced and 3 level.
moves beautifully, nice conformation, lovely temperament, very intelligent. it's the mare standing on the right in my siggy.
Thanks guys might be looking at a 2yr old by him and wanted to know what temperament he tends to pass on. I have a very spooky mare now so that was not what I was wanting! Hot I can handle scared of its own shadow I am not keen on.
They are 'hot' on the whole and i would look very closely at the front leg/ foot conformation as he does not have good front legs and this has lead him to have problems with soundness [ he broke down in germany]
Saying that two of the most impressive mares i have ridden at the mare grading have been by him. There is no doupt of his talent but it does beg the question for how long would you have that talent to ride if soundness is an issue? having lost an international horse just coming into his prime through injury ,it is no joke and heart breaking so bear that in mind.
Lots of talent as a general rule. My mare has a Dimaggio 4yo (not bred by me) that has been an angel to back and bring on and new owners are over the moon with both her attitude and ability.
But I would always be concerned by Dimaggio's own soundness issues as mentioned by Partoow - it just niggles me
