Recovered from aches from private lesson this week got a call yesterday from friend asking if I wanted to ride out with her today on one her lovely horses

feeling happy & confident. So disapointed when she rang this morning to say it was raining & therefore not the right weather for hacking .....

Doesn't anyone ride in the rain???? I am sure it wasn't the idea of me hacking with her! hay ho waiting for the sun to shine..

We rode in a howling gale, and someone we met (walking) told me off! She felt I should not have children out on ponies in a high wind.
I was a bit taken aback, really. My 9yo was on a 23yo 12hh pony who could probably do the weather forecast if you gave him a bit of warning, and my 12yo is very, very competent, and her 14hh Irish Connemara doesn't really call this bad weather, having hunted at home in goodness knows what weather.
Also, what business was it of hers

Oh I must be awful then, I had two children out for an hour and a half in the pouring rain today.
Strangely niether them OR the neds shrunk at all!

It was good out today - all we met were dog walkers! normally our area is filled to bursting with bike riders, walkers (with big flappy and scarey maps) off roaders etc etc... so lovely except horse found the going harder as it was slippery..

I ride in just about anything, having lost too many days to not riding due to the weather and lost my horse so we really didn't have 'forever'.

SA - How very rude

. I hope you gave as good as you got!

I will happily school in the rain but I tend not to hack in the rain as I am just so paranoid about the amount of idiot drivers on the road and that even though we are bright yellow they still may not see us due to reduced visibility or won't be able to stop if they are going too fast because of wet roads.
I will have to start hacking out in the rain though as much as I like to avoid it as I have no facilities so hacking is one of the only things I can do during the winter.
