Well i posted a few months ago about my plans to loan a horse. And about three days later I went to ride a horse called, Tetley for a friend of a friend. It was amazing, I jumped a spread (first time) and was able to spend the whole day with the horse. The horse itself was a 10 year old dapple grey tb x mare about 16hh and was a really nice ride and the owner was delighted with my riding and how i treated her horse and she offerd me the chance to part loan him 5 days a week, and she was to have him in her care at weekends as she worked full time five days a week. So I was overjoyed and accepted. The first two weeks went brilliant - I had a few lessons on the flat and popped a few poles. Everything was perfect and I worked hard at school and at home to earn the money. I did everything from mucking out and feeding - I even took care of the owners other retired gelding who lived out all year. So it was the last week in may I went to the field as usual and I was kind off shocked/baffled to find a girl riding Tetley over some logs and there was Tetleys owner and a woman and a man standing on the sidelines. I went over to ask the owner what was going on. She told me that she thought I was leading her on a bit and decided to sell Tetley as she knew I would just sponge of her and never end up buying Tetley. Even though she had urged me just to loan Tetley even though I had offerd to buy her a few days prior. I was told to collect my grooming kit ect from the box and go home. I sometimes go upto see her Gelding in the field as I know her work hours and I know she wont be around during the weekdays.

So now i'm back to sqaure one.

Just thought I'd let you all know since some people asked me to keep them updated.

Just a warning - if you go up and see someone else's horse without permission, you will get into a lot of trouble, and probably really annoy the owner. I know that I wouldn't like anyone hanging around any of my horses without my permission!
Sorry to hear that you lost the horse, but the owner is well within their rights to sell it if they want to.

Oh i dont like go in the field or anything its on a public footpath so i just stand at look at him he's not that friendly so he dosent come upto the gate.

Thanks for the heads up though

seems like you were bending over backwards for this lady and her animals, she imho was being a b*tch by saying that to you. i would love to of had a girl like you loan my gelding instead of the people who did who didnt treat him properly etc.

good luck with finding a horse

Oh dear hun. Time to munch on some chocolate!

However, don't rush into purchasing because you've had a bad loan with a view to buy - it sounds like perhaps the owner needed a sale more than you'd realised?
