Just need a bit of sympathy & maybe a kick up the bum. We've been working really hard on our sj, we've always struggled with it a bit, & been have some brilliant help from Paul Crago for the last year. Trouble is, either we're fab or poo, kind of no in between. Had a fab lesson yesterday at Pauls, practiced the dreaded fillers & square parallels, my big phobia. She jumped & I rode really well. Went down to Sparsholt today to put it all into practice, enterered the 70cm with the goal of a lovely flowing clear, should have been fine as they were well smaller than the lesson fences, but she's hard at a show as very spooky. Warmed up well, went in to jump, she proceeded to shy, spin rear & have a paddy, I just could NOT get further than half way down the school. They were very patient, a lady came in to help me, & led her to the far end, Kizzy was absolutely rigid, not reponding to leg at all. After more rearing, gave up & jumped one fence on the way out, returned to warm up, she completely relaxed & jumped well, then went to outdoor clear round, guess what, she jumps 2 nice rounds. A - i'm mortified as lots of people were there I knew, & I nearly died when Paul rang to see how it went. B - I'm really disappointed as I so wanted to jump round, & sometimes I don't. This is an old behaviour pattern that hasn't surfaced for a couple of years, but don't know why today, unless just windy & strange spooky arena?? Well done if you've got this far, guess I just got to go somewhere again soon & have another go.
