Discharge after spaying

My GSD bitch was spayed 9 days ago aged 15 months, three months after her first season.

Yesterday I noticed a discharge from her vulva which was pinkish. Today it is worse and a darker red colour. It is very similar to the discharge she had when in season.

Is this common? She seems happy in herself if a bit upset that she cannot lick it, she was very clean when in season. I aim to ring the vet surgery in the morning for a word with the vet nurse but I am looking for a bit of reassurance that all is normal, or should I be panicing and go for out of hours vet call?

I would ring the emergency vet today, it doesn't sound normal to me, although we don't spay routinely.

They won't charge to tell you if it's expected or not at an emergency vet, when I was in vets receptionist we would request the dog comes in though as a ischaemia would not be expected.

No receptionist on a Sunday a call goes straight through to the on call vet. As she otherwise seems happy in herself I am holding off until the morning, unless she starts to look off colour.

I definitely wouldn’t be expecting any discharge like that from a newly spayed bitch, I’d be calling the vet immediately. They won’t charge for advice over the phone if they feel it’s nothing to worry about!

I would talk the vet today as well .

I've had a few spayed bitches and never seen that. I would just give ooh vet a call and ask what they think.

My girl was spayed 2 weeks ago and there has not been any discharge at all. This was also a spay following a pyometra.
I too would call the vets tonight. Discharge maybe the first signs of infection or even internal bleeding

She has seen the vet this morning and he does not think that there is any infection but has given her a course of antibiotics to prevent one as it is a prime breeding ground. As long as the discharge does not get worse or turn to fresh blood she is ok until her stitches out visit. If it worsens or turns fresh then she will get scanned.
