Sorry a bit of a crude question.

I have just got home and noticed that my girlie dog has got some discharge coming from her 'private bit'. I have not noticed this before and wondered if anyone else has come across this in bitch's. She has just finished her season about a week ago. She is fine within herself. She is being spayed at the end of Jan. Is it anything to be worried about. has anyone out there got any advice?

if she has only just finished her season it's probably just her hormones returning to normal.

If it becomes heavier or foul smelling and she is sore or unwell take her to the vet.

Thank you thistle, it seems ok at the moment, just not really had much experience with bitch's. I will keep an eye on her any way. If it gets worse or different, will call the vets to be on the safe side.

Given her age and the fact shes "ok" in herself, Id agree with thistle and say its not much to worry about.

Keep an eye on it and watch for any soreness or, as thistle said, if it starts to smell.

Bitches can get infections in their uterus and one of the symptoms is discharge... but having experienced it with my dog it a) smells gross and is a peculiar colour (a kind of reddish / brown colour but clearly not blood) and b) while she wasnt overly ill - she was drinking a HELL of a lot - enough so that there is no way you could fail to notice it. Pyometra is possibly one of the more common infections in bitch where the uterus starts to ulcerate but it tends to occur in older unspayed bitches.

Unless there are any other related symptoms, I really wouldnt worry about it.

After the blood of her session comes the discharge, this is the most fertile few days and when you breed with them. So keep her in!!! The discharge will go and then her session is at an end

Thanks filly190, i have got two male collies as well, they don't get frisky with her, she's always tring to mount them! Poor little chaps, they just stand there with a sad look on their face then run off playing with her!
