Hi all
Apologies again for posting another vetting question, I really appreciate your help.
Quick recap .... taking on a 14 yr old ex race horse. Retired sound and went to a hacking/ fun ride home but owner brought a smaller heavy type and the TB went to a companion home where he has been for nine months.
Lunged a handful of times recently and sat on twice and all fine. Never had health issues.

I only want a 2 stage vetting. I trust the owner and the people he has been a companion with and i think a 5 stage would be unfair to him as he has been out of work for so long.

My vets now want to send me a disclaimer that confirms that I am aware of and understand the limitations of a two stage vetting as opposed to a five stage and I have specifically requested this.

Is this normal? I cant help but feel a little insulted (if thats the right word!) about this!

Yes, this in entirely normal practice. Your veterinary surgeon's professional indemnity insurer will not cover a vet performing a limited examination without a signed indemnity form. It basically states that you recognise the limitations to the exam you have asked for and accept the additional risks. I wouldn't worry about it.
