I have heard good and bad about both cars. Unfortunately we don't have any scope - and these are the only two cars we can get for towing one 15hh.

Either car would be the newest model, if that would make any difference.

I'm going to research it further, and call the companies, but would appreciate your votes.

Oooh and good/bad experiences welcome.

Thank you

Answers on a postcard please...polls not working... thanks

Sorry, I have to say neither for me - I have had a 2.5TDI Discovery for about 3 weeks since my Pajero died, and I hate towing with it - it has got little power compared to the Pajero and feels a lot less stable. I am getting my Pajero back in a week or two's time.... I don't think Freelanders seem up to the job either, especially after hearing a couple of peoples experience. Mind you, perhaps it depends what age they are, my Disco is a P reg, the newer ones may be better.

Sorry

I think you had a bad experience with your disco Marnie, I know loads of people who love them for towing horse trailers and our RC Chairperson, regularly tows horse lorries in and out of muddy fields at comps.

I have a 2.5 shogun (same as pajero) and I feel that is a little underpowered for towing.

Surprised you thought the Discovery was underpowered, Marnie, I have an S reg TDi and its absolutely brilliant for towing, so much so that I very rarely use the 4 wheel drive gear, even with 2 large horses and a 510 Ifor Williams trailer. The only downside is the cost, diesel prices being so high now!!!

Discovery..........mines an old on, but tows fantastically well.
It's not the quickest vehicle to drive round town, but winds up quite decently on the open road. Road holding is great as well.
