Disgusting, sick people!

God, I saw that as a friend posted it on FB last week. It's horrific - I can't believe how anyone can think of doing that. I felt sick when I saw that picture. The look in that dog's eyes. I don't know if I'd have coped had I had to deal with that, I'd have broken down.

I am not a fan of dogs nor am I particularly sentimental about animals (not cruel just not touchy feely) but I find that genuinley upsetting.
Sick, sick people.

I know what this picture is without having to look - if it makes anyone feel any better, there are being serious questions asked about its' authenticity - in terms of where and how it happened, I have read different stories, and it is highly likely that the photo may have been manipulated.
Or at the very least, this incident occurred quite some time ago and is being regurgitated on the internet.

There are people out there who encourage very disturbing pictures to go viral on the internet, it is not about preventing animal cruelty, it is about sick people who get a kick out of spreading horrendous pictures, it is spam, pretty much.

Please do not assist them by posting this image anywhere else, imagine if a young child were to see it.

It seems to me very unlikely that the dog would have survived that wound for as long as the blurb says - I think it would have bled out or died of shock fairly quickly tbh. So I tend to agree with CC that this is likely a sick scam.:(

I truly hope this is the case. However when I clicked on the link on the article it went to a video of a vet examining the dog. I couldn't hear the sound but you could see the dog was clearly breathing, and flinched when some of it's wounds where being examined? :(

I've just nipped onto an American forum, one of the posters said he first saw the picture years ago, before Facebook etc, another has said that on FB, the image can have a virus attached to it.
Another poster said it happened in Australia and named the rescue that dealt with it.
Some posts say the dog caught the firework, others say the dog's mouth was taped shut.

Sorry, to me, while sadly, yes, it may have happened somewhere, sometime, and the dog did not survive, it did not happen recently and the perpetuation of this photo is just a gratuitous scam, don't help promote it.
