Hello, looking at an unbroken 4yo who’s passed vetting. I’m very taken with him for type and temperament, he also seems to be reasonably priced for the market at the moment. I attended the vetting and it was pointed out that he can occasionally dish on one leg. Vet said that it was likely because he is young, no muscle, not filled out yet and just generally a bit uncoordinated with his legs. He thought it would likely stop as he grows and starts work and even if it didn’t he landed straight on all fours. After a thorough examination horse passed. So my question is how much would the occasional dish concern you at this age? He’s destined to be a low level allrounder so I’m not hoping to take the show ring by storm but I’m paranoid about lameness with one ornament at home already.

It bothers some people but doesn't bother me. My older mare is massively pigeon toed and has a lot of dish. However, she does land straight. She is 13 now and at advanced level dressage and (touch wood) never had lameness issues.

I keep her barefoot.

Lovely!! Vet didn’t seem concerned and said he lands straight but he did point it out to me as the only slight issue so I had a bit of a wobble.

If he lands straight and you like him otherwise, and he looks good after a vetting in all other respects....I'd take a punt....only because I've known a couple of horses who have dished their way through a long and sound ridden career, admitedly not at high level for anything. Not sure whether I should put a tin hat on now.
