Think it should be "The commercial Viability of Mare's milk" not "The comercial Viability of Mare's milk", heading on questionnaire.

I would also like to know what happens to the byproduct ie the foals?

Well in other countries where there is horse dairy farms, not in every case,
the foals do go for meat. This is a welfare issue i need to clarify within my lit review. However i think that what could happen in the future, endangered breeds could be utilised to help the endangered populations, also these breeds would be sort after and therefore the foals would not go for meat but be sold as riding/show/driving horses. Also with dairy farming; the horse would be bred for reproductive conformation which has been ignored for a long while in the horse industry, we now breed for competition success rather than fertility.

However this is all in an ideal world!

I haven't got a problem with horsemeat production as long as welfare standards are high.
Surely horses with high milk yields would be more sought after than reproduction. The longer gestation period in a horse compared to cow or goat must be a big cost factor.
