Had a fantastic day - can't believe how far Diva and I have come in just 9 months!

Left the yard with perfect plaits at 8am this morning and travelled down the M26 to be hit with a jam on the M25 but it soon cleared and we made good time. Pulled into the showground with sister behind who had managed to catch us up on route.

Most of you know how badly I was suffering with nerves but with Rescue Remedy and regular outings I think I have the upper hand. I was excited but not stressing and manged to eat some breakfast on route - a real first.

This was a real first for Diva and I - it was the first venue I or OH hadn't been to previously with her. So it was real virgin territory.

I faffed around getting dressed and telling Casper our fox terrier and Hamish the cocker spaniel where I was going in the test while 'Team Butler' dressed Diva.

Diva was her usual Mrs Chill and stayed on the lorry until I was summoned to mount

Got on and wandered round to the warm-up to get ready for our first test which was a warm-up, prelim 10. She was great, went in did what I thought as smashing test with just one pilot error from me.

Was then dragged back to the lorry and told to get off and have a drink while they sorted Diva out - No sooner had I taken a very soggy jacket off then I was told to get back on and get ready for the area test!

Went back round and she felt even better, keot aking if my last score was up and Team Butler kept saying: "No not yet, now shut up and concentrate on getting Diva off your leg!"

Friends who were in the novice arrived just in time to see my test so they waved me in with a loud rendition off: "WHIP!" Which I duly dropped at A.

She was excellent and did a really lovely test - just one blip she poohed in her right canter and broke. This is the horse that never poohs under saddle. Not once in 9 months!!!!! :P I was so shocked I had to look behind me, I could feel her backing off and for a split second thought she was lame. Team Butler said it was very funny and real Pony Club stuff to see me looking behind.

Finished and went back to the lorry and got undressed as I really thought that the break in the canter would cost us a place. While I was sweating heavily and peeling off layers OH said what do you think you got in your first test. I said about 62-63% I was very shocked to be told I actually only got 58% he said and wisely so we didn't want to tell you before you went in. I thought it was quite harsh but thats dressage. I thought that if I only scored that then there was no way I was going to be placed in the area.

HOW WRONG!?!?!?!?!?!

Scores went up and I got 66%. I was gobsmacked. We were fourth for ages then the last person pipped me to 5th. Got redressed and clambered back on.

I can't tell you how proud I was. We went forward for the mounted prize giving which was ace. Diva was in her elelment and strutted her stuff in the lap of honour with me grinning like a demented cheshire cat

The break in the canter cost me about 6 marks as I got a 3 and a 4. I just missed out on qualifying for the finals but the comments were so encouraging. One juge said she was "An elegant, impressive horse with much to like!"

She got a plaque for her stable door as well!

Sis took some fab photos which I will post in the gallery. They really show how much she and I have improved as a team which is entirely due to my 'Mother Theresa of the horseworld Diva' and my OH's patience and dedication.

Six months ago I was struggling with the idea of doing a walk and trot test - the idea of acheiving what we did today a distant dream. So although we didn't win we did in my eyes

Erm slightly more than when I first bought them! Let's just say they don't feel like a second skin just yet!!!

On friday I took a spare pair in case I couldn't hack the pain but I obviously am getting more hardcore as I didn't take them. Feel like I have been given ten of the best though and am still sitting a bit gingerly!

Bit worried that people think OH is a wife beater as god knows what people thought when we pulled into the services. There I was walking like I have had the ride of my life (which in a way i did!) with bruised backs of legs!

Well done, I managed to get there in time to see ur test but didn't get chance to say hello as was too busy getting myself organised. 5th place was the worst place to be today.

Hard luck for your prelim 10 but our novice warm up was also getting low marks too!!

There is one at Patchetts on the 29th but it is my 30th and I am having a party. I really want to give it another go but I think OH may have something planned as he is being a bit cagey.
Do they give wild cards? Someone might take pity on my toilet break...

ah so maybe you won't be going to Patchetts then. Could you go to Wellington or is that a bit far for you? I have no idea about wilcards i am afraid

Trouble is we are on holiday fom Friday for a week, then we are at a 2 day clinic at the TTT then I am back to school so can only do weekends

Would love to try will nag OH again...

Typical... why is it they choose a time like that to pooh

You did very well, and her pictures looks lovely. She is a very special mare, and the two of you have come on so much together in a short period of time. Can I just say, how long is that whip??? What a great batting stick that looks
smile.gif

Oh, and the pain was well worth it... the boots look great!

I watched your test and I couldn't believe it when I saw her poo like that. How frustrating!!
It also happened to my friend in the novice but when she was trotting. He started to poo and tried to stop altogether, she managed to keep him from stopping but he did break into a walk!! Funnily enough it was in the same place in the arena as where Diva went!

Finn - stop jumping up and down, you need to rest that back!
grin.gif

Worried- how good was that?!
grin.gif
Well done that is wonderful and you should be very very proud of yourself. Come to Patchetts - I'll provide the Pimms!

well done - sounds like you did really well. Shame about being pipped to the second rounds - you will have to qualify her via the regionals so i can meet up with you at Hartpury!

Well done, I loved reading your post. Good luck and might see you at Patchetts or Sheepgate (the week before at weekend) If i manage to get my second qualifying sheet!

Hello Stranger :P!
How are you? We had a good day
grin.gif
No goats, no table cloths, no dogs, no pheasants or shetland ponies!!!!!

When a girls gotta go a girls gotta go!!!
The most frustrating thing is it was her right canter which is her better rein! Maybe there was an Ardingly ghost who literally scared the s**t out of them
blush.gif

She hung a bit in her circles but it was the first test I have ridden without a whip and it made me realise how much I rely on it!
